QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
7. How do I make an employee redundant?
The need to no longer maintain a particular job, or a significant reduction / diminished requirement for work of a particular kind, would indicate a genuine redundancy situation. If a number of posts of a particular kind are to be made redundant then an agreed selection criteria must be applied to ensure a fair process.
If a genuine redundancy situation has arisen, the Company must communicate to employee(s), dependent on the number of redundancies, specific timings for consultation and notification must be adhered to.
Paramount HR can provide you with a 'user friendly' overview of the whole redundancy process together with the specific letters you will need in order to ensure you do not fall foul of employment law. Once you have this procedure and documentation in place, it can obviously then be used for future similar situations, should the need arise.
We can also provide on-site training with your Line Managers if this is preferred.
